I’ve been working for 2 months now.
Getting paid has been fun. And being able to do fun things.
:D
I’m actually really liking my job as well.
I mainly help to organise educational meetings for doctors and plan publications (journal articles etc.).
I’m also getting to do additional fun things like work on the company website and plan the office Christmas Party!
(very excited about that one)
In November I am hopefully even going to be going to Budapest to work on site at an event!
And there are plans to give me my own projects to lead as well.
So it is all looking good in the job world!
Moving to Reading has been okay. I think it’s taken me a while to settle in properly though.
BUT, this week I’m joining a cheerleading squad! I have always wanted to be a cheerleader and am finally getting round to it! There is a stunt team and a dance team –I’m planning to do both. I am really hoping that I am small enough to be the flyer (who gets thrown around in the air) –it looks the most fun! I’ll join as a trainee but hopefully I’ll get put into a team and be able to compete at cheerleading competitions. I am really the most excited about this!!
Other than that I’ve been filling my life up with going to the gym, trips to London, visits home, a mini break to Cornwall and fun times at Thorpe Park.
Traffic jams in Cornwall
We got the most stuck in the tiniest lane when we got diverted off our route. We were sat here for like 30mins just chilling on our way to holiday times. Someone even started walking their dog.
Jamie loves life.
He was so very pleased when we took him for a cliff top walk in the rain
Cornwall was v.good times.
We saw a great band –Same Difference/Same Direction/One Direction. They were X factor finalists from maybe 2007 and were so very pleased to be performing at Haven. We loved it.
We went on the longest zipwire in the UK. I didn’t lose my shoes.
I discovered deep hatred for the constant stream of disappointment known as ‘bingo’.
Me and Mel mastered the bingo machines though and won £1 on multiple occasions –never when Jamie was there though, he was somewhat of a hindrance :p. We also had big wins on the 2p machines.
It was fun times for sure, but now I’m ready to plan another trip.
Not my epic adventure though, it turns out I don’t have many holiday days left and I need to save a lot of pounds. Next year though.
For now i am mostly just excited about becoming a cheerleader.

Just a little late.
For New year Ryan, Mel, Boz and I went to Edinburgh for a ‘short break’ and had a lovely time. Tess and Ollie came up for new year too :).
We played Rapidough. I was super excited about Rapidough and filled my entire hand luggage with it and no room for anything else. I think it was worth it though. If you don’t know what it is, it’s basically Pictionary but instead of drawing you model playdough. Ended up saying some ridiculous things though. I thought Ryan was making a “hand mushroom” which really turned out to be a palm tree. Fail.
We went to the Edinburgh dungeons. Actually amazing, so much fun! I came out with a sore throat I was screaming so much! Ryan was a terror though trying to freak everyone out in the dark.
On the 30th we went to the Torch lit Parade. It was spectacular (which isn’t a word I ever use but it seems appropriate). Thousands of people walked down the mound, along Princes Street and up Calton Hill carrying flame torches. There were so many people, it looked absolutely amazing! And I’m sure everyone has always wanted to have a flame lit torch. No idea how health and safety ever let it go ahead though. I think if it happened anywhere else it could easily end up in riots. It concluded with the son et lumiere fireworks. At the top of Calton Hill we were surrounded by fireworks as they were going off from all of the monuments. Mel even thought they were the best fireworks she’d ever seen! This was definitely one of the highlights of Hogmanay!
New Year’s Eve was super exciting because Ryan bought me a dress to wear and surprised me with it! It came in a sparkly box and everything. He chose really well too (although I think he had help from a few elves). I am super lucky.
We spent New Year’s eve playing Rapidough whilst drinking £1.99 sparkly chaumet from lidl. Pretty much champagne :D. We then headed down the street to watch the fireworks at the castle. Which were obviously amazing.
We then headed to Hive to party the night away and fun was had by all.
My amazing New Dress
Good times :)
New Year’s Day was spent having a pub lunch and watching Harry Potter. What more could you need?
Happy New Year!

Last weekend was spent visiting my Nan in North Wales. It rained a lot. But we should have been expecting it being in Wales.
The mountains look so moody here. Bad weather sometimes makes nice photographs.
Maybe not ‘nice’ –interesting perhaps.
We went for walks up the mountain, in the woods and on the beach.
These woods are one of my very favourite places to walk.
Me and mum got soaked walking up the mountain. We could hardly even see the sea. And obviously as soon as we got back the rain stopped.
It wasn’t so bad though. What I’m really scared of is cold rain. I think winter may be horrible in Edinburgh. I’m supposed to be flying back on monday but we are forecast 80mph winds from the leftovers of the hurricane :s .
It was super windy when we went to the beach. I had to wear 2 coats but was still cold. We were nearly blown away. Even the dogs ears couldn’t stay down.
We were lucky enough to have one sunny day though. So we went to Porthmadog harbour.
We saw lovely boats.
Then we ate fish and chips by the lake with this as our view.
North Wales is lovely when the sun shines.

Last week was spent frolicking around Loch Rannoch in the strangely warm Scottish summer. Genuinely the warmest I’ve been since returning from Oz –I was a little confused about how that managed to occur in Scotland though.
We stayed in the gamekeepers lodge
We had our own gardens for lounging, eating and playing cricket in and were just 30 seconds from the loch.
It was so beautiful with the loch and the surrounding mountains and woods. We spent our days walking and chilling out at the loch. The dogs were loving it. And Ryan was loving having dogs.
We took a trip to Fort William –had a yummy pub lunch and walked around the town. We saw the loch
And what once was the old fort
We even got to go to the Highland Wildlife Park –somewhere I have been wanting to go ever since Mercedes the polar bear left Edinburgh Zoo. Sadly she has died since but we did get to see the other polar bear, and wolves, red squirrels, tigers and snow monkeys!
After being away for so long it was nice to just spend some time altogether.
This family photo was taken just before leaving. Can you believe that this was actually the worst weather we had? We were so lucky!
After our week at Loch Rannoch my parents headed home with the dogs while me, Ryan, Laurie and Tash went to Edinburgh to stay in the nicest apartment.
We headed up Arthur’s Seat pretty much as soon as we got there. Unfortunately the others didn’t realise quite how big it was and how many steps there were…At least you get a lovely view from the top.
Some kids had spelt their names out on the grass in rocks. When we were down there it was difficult to figure out what they’d been doing but once you get to the top you could see it all. Such a nice idea.
Proof that we made it!
I’m already looking a little pink in this picture –I finished the day bright red! After all the time I’ve spent in Australia you would think I wouldn’t burn in Scotland….
Once we headed down we stopped off at Chocolatte the most amazing chocolate shop. If you are ever in Edinburgh you definitely need to go there. The chocolate fudge biscuit tray bakes are AMAZING.
We then had a yummy lunch in Greyfriar’s Pub before having a peek at the newly opened museum. We walked up to the castle then back down the royal mile. After much deliberation we booked onto ‘The Double Dead’ ghost tour for the evening. I was not keen –I had already been on 2 ghost tours in the Edinburgh vaults and really have never been so scared. This one actually turned out to be pretty tame compared to the others. I was only nearly brought to tears once. Apparently in the graveyard we went in over 400 people have not only experienced the ghost but been knocked out by it during tours. Luckily I didn’t experience anything and managed to escape intact and ready for cocktails.
The next day was spent shopping and then going to Camera Obscura which was full of weird and freaky things to trick your eyes with. My favourite was the mirror maze and the computer that can turn your face into a mans/apes/old/baby. Tash and Ryan seemed to think that the male version of me actually looked like Laurie –which is weird as I never thought we looked at all alike. At the top of the building they have a pinhole camera where you can spy on the people around Edinburgh. It’s strange to think that I have probably been spied on walking past there before too.
We finished the day getting an all you can eat Chinese in the omnicentre and then had to head home on the Sunday.
I absolutely loved being back in Edinburgh. I am so excited to live there again-although not so much the having to go back to uni part. It is still my favourite city.
